E-book vs Physical book

BIBLIOPHILIA — The love for books

E-books will never replace physical books. I get e-books are meant to make things easier, but it’s just not the same. No it’s not. The experience I get from reading actual books [apart from the content of the book] is something e-books will never be able to give me.

BIBLIOSMIA — The smell of books

Flipping the pages; feeling the weight of the book in my hands; that musty, yet satisfying smell of old books; the fresh, crisp scent of new ones; and even the visual aspect of seeing progress as I physically flip through the pages all give me a sense of immersion that I cannot get from an e-book.

Yet, e-books offer me convenience and portability [and I believe I speak for everyone], even though reading on a screen can be hard on my eyes at times. Despite lacking that tactile experience, I think e-books make up for that with some really good features like text adjustment, theme setting [imagine reading a printed book in “dark mode”], and being able to find a specific word in a book, immediately, which you obviously cannot do with a real book. Still, print books are UNDEFEATED and you don’t have to worry about screen time or eye strain 😊. But they’re expensive! 😭

Sheesh!
